This depends on the complexity of the application. As a guide, the standard rail-mounted TRAM system can be installed on a de-gassed road tanker trailer in approximately 5 - 7 hours.
Yes. TRAM is very robust and has been proven in some of the harshest conditions. It is in operation in some of the roughest roads around the world and in corrosive environments. As an example, it is in use on plant equipment carrying ammonium nitrate in open-cut mines, and on trucks traversing the Dampier Peninsular and Gibb River roads in outback Australia, two of the most demanding unsealed roads in the world. No. The TRAM is not reliant on air or electrical systems; however TRAM can be fitted with pneumatic or electronic sensor brake interlock if desired.
Yes. The safety belt (sometimes called a harness) forms an intricate part of the system; however it is very comfortable and easy to use. Can TRAM be used with a full body harness? Yes. Some organisations already use full body harnesses for other purposes and prefer not to introduce another style of belt/harness. When used with a full body harness, lanyards for the TRAM system can either be girth-hitched, or attached by a connector (e.g. karabiner), to side Ds on the harness.
Very little, however as it is a mechanical piece of equipment, it does require basic preventative maintenance and cleaning.
